Course Project 01
Create an AR Menu tracker designed around a pop-up restaurant theme and menu style.
PROJECT TIMELINE: 2 weeks
KEY ACTIVITIES: Design a Menu with Unity Engine to explore user interaction and user experience design using trackable AR targets used to host interactive UI / 3D Objects / Animation / Sound Elements.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
How to set up a project in Unity
How to use Vuforia AR interactive trackers
Unity asset creation, simple animation and sound elements
3D model creation in Blender
CONCEPT:
I came up with the idea to use a KIDS ACTIVITY MENU as the source to hold the AR targets. The menu would be focused on items kids love to eat like Mac and Cheese, chicken tenders and hamburgers. The fictionally based food truck is called Big Wheel eats. Big Wheels were popular way back when and I wanted to bring back that sense of fun and excitement to the parents while providing an activity for kids today.

GOALS:
1. Provide a way for kids to have an activity they were familiar with. Kids were used to being given an activity menu to keep them busy while food was being ordered. Many restaurants have shutdown because of the pandemic and the ones that are still open are limited in indoor dining, outdoor dining or only takeout.
2. To provide a learning tool which could be scalable to other industries not just food.
3. Engagement - interested in an AR app, not just for kids but for the parents as well.
INTERACTIONS:
1. 3 individual trackable events with a Specials, Sides and Desserts menu.
2. Clickable interface with icons to show food pop up.
3. To learn about the food once the item pops up.

Results:
1. Figuring out and getting my feet wet learning how to use Unity Engine, importing assets and adding sounds in a short timeframe.
2. Learning how to add basic interactions with buttons and a clickable UI canvas with Vuforia in Unity.
3. Analyzing and adjusting inspector settings to control 3 individual tracker images not just one graphic. If the Activity menu was bigger would the 3D items still fall?
4. Great time learning how to work with 3D models in Blender.
