Course Project 03
Team industry VR product experience with collaboration and direction from RYOT Studios and Verizon Media 5G Lab.
PROJECT TIMELINE: 3 weeks
KEY ACTIVITIES: VR interactive product experience for Oculus Quest using a portal system throughout the user experience.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Team collaboration and asset creation in a short amount of time.
Oculus Quest build and run project testing.
Pitch deck design and presentation to key stakeholders.
CONCEPT:
Our team project focused on the beauty industry and how the pandemic has affected in-store activity. Trying on makeup at retail level, does not appeal to all but is convenient when you are wanting to try out a new eyeshadow, blush or lipstick.
*We chose to brand this project as Sephora and use some of their branded items for concept and placement only.

Original concept sketches with interactions

GOALS:
1. Next level makeup try-on with a virtual mirror
2. Order online curbside delivery pickup
3. Create a familiar environment in a VR space to get back to normal self-care routines.

Blender - UV unwrap and texture painting

Lens Studio - Adding green screen to have transparent background and playing with makeup controllers
Welcome to the Sephora virtual holiday pop-up shop.
INTERACTIONS:
1. Grabbable object to use as a portal opener into the next scene.
2. Vending machine as mirror try on.
3. UI canvas system
Results:
This project was fun to work on as a team especially in a very short amount of time.
Learning how to use shaders in Unity.
Using Lens Studio to create video.
Adding a transparent video to Unity was not an easy process.
Exploring Sprite animation as a video and seeing the difference between loading times.
Using multiple cameras in the scene.
Creating a portal system that was consistent throughout and not used by a teleport anchor system (3D object on ground).
Things to re-visit : animation to open the portal similar to Dr. Strange (Marvel) and adding an animation to end the scene with the vending machine and sleigh of gifts.
